Bulgaria has a population of approximately 7.7 million people, and
covers 110,910 square km. It is a 2hr 50min flight from London, Manchester and
Dublin to the airports of Sofia (the capital city), Varna, Burgas and Plovdiv. The main airport,
Sofia, is only 160km from Bansko.
The main language is Bulgarian, with English, German and Russian widely
spoken.
Bulgaria has borders with Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Turkey and over
350km Black Sea coast to the East.
Bulgaria has hot dry Summers (28C) and cold Winters (3C) with plenty of snow
in the mountains. Being close to Greece and Turkey, Bulgaria offers over 200
sunny days per year from May to October - excellent for holidays. And more - it
offers fantastic skiing opportunities from mid December to March in the winter
resorts: Bansko, Borovetz, Pamporovo and others.
